Doodle's Doughnuts: Where Sweet and Savory Unite

Old Town, Chicago, has recently been bestowed with a jewel, Doodle’s Doughnuts. More than just a doughnut shop, Doodle’s Doughnuts not only provides customers with multiple varieties of doughnuts, but it also serves Metropolis coffee and Slagel Farms bacon. The shop opens from 7am until midnight on Fridays and Saturdays, and 7 am to 9 pm on other days.

Manager Howard Stein, and shop owner, Dana Lanier, came from California, a state that is known for its love for doughnuts. After settling in Chicago, Lanier quickly noticed that something was missing in the historic neighborhood: an authentic doughnut shop. Three weeks ago, Doodle’s Doughnuts’ opening made the neighborhood complete.

“What is most special about Doodle’s Doughnuts is our creation of the Doodle Doughnut,” Howard Stein remarked. The iconic Bismarck Doodle Doughnut is a real treat that consists of chocolate or vanilla cream and is topped with white glazing. Every order of the Doodle Doughnut comes with a piping bag of flavored icing. Along with experiencing the pleasure of eating tasty doughnuts, the customers are also able to enjoy turning their treat into an artistic piece of work.

Additionally, the shop also offers other flavors of doughnuts. Some highlights: cinnamon crumb, Boston cream, cruller glazed, and apple fritter. For those who prefer the sweet and savory, Doodle’s Doughnuts also provides three different kinds of bacon: smoked, candied, and honey sriracha-glazed.

Besides the food, the decoration of the shop is also eye-catching. Inside the two- floored shop, customers can find enchanting pendant lights hanging on the ceiling. Also, the beauty of royal purple seems to never be out of sight, furnishing walls and seats. Bright, glowing lights embellish the massive “doodle” sign that is present on the second floor. With over forty comfortable seats, Doodle Doughnuts provides a relaxing ambience, thus making the shop an ideal place for casual hangouts or large group gatherings.
