An open-house for Wright College’s clubs and programs took place in the event hall on Sept. 13 and showcased all sorts of opportunities for both students and teachers.

Every club at Wright College had a place on the floor in the event called Wilburpalooza. Held in the Event Hall, students had the opportunity to browse what Wright had to offer and talk to some of the heads of each club or program. Students were also able to get a free Subway lunch after visiting five clubs’ tables and having a representative sign their name on a sheet.

“I feel like Wilburpalooza gives students the opportunity to open new doors and connects them with the school. Everybody gets to see new things and draw experience from them, which can also present more opportunities,” said Gaming Club representative DeAndre Martin.

Clubs were not the only things being showcased at the event. Tutoring and IT course programs were also present in the hall, with representatives ready to answer the questions of the event attendees.

“This event does a good job of informing students of what is available at Wright College, and allows students the opportunity to learn new skills that can help them later in life. It can also help teachers discover the potential of the students in the clubs that they oversee,” said Toma Talpa and Abigail Valentin, President and Vice President of the Wright Side Club.

The event made students planning to join clubs a little more informed about their options than they were prior and presented it all in a unique little get-together.

“This event opens your eyes to the options available at Wright College and helps you find something that you could enjoy doing later on in your life,” said Wilbur Wright student Estephani Paredes.

Wilburpalooza was not only a chance to see all of the clubs but a way to find out what is available once students are finished with college. Many of the programs showcased yield valuable skills that are useful to have later in life.

“Students have a chance to explore their interests and learn new skills at Wilburpalooza. The clubs offered at Wright College give students the opportunity to learn outside of a classroom and develop useful skills that can become tools for jobs, hobbies, and life,” said Director of Career and Planning Center Joe Reaves.

Due to the commitment of the Wilbur Wright staff and volunteers, Wilburpalooza was able to successfully inform students of what is available and interesting for them this semester.
