Wright welcomes Wendy Urquiza as the newly appointed Financial Aid Advisor I available at both the main and Humboldt Park campuses.
Urquiza graduated from Robert Morris University (RMU) in 2010 with a Bachelor’s in Accounting. In her last two years of schooling, she participated in a work study position at RMU’s Financial Aid Department which is where her interest in financial aid blossomed. After graduation, Urquiza was offered and accepted the position of Financial Aid Planner which is where she became more experienced and knowledgeable about Financial Aid.
“I have learned through my experience that many are first generation students and do not fully understand the financial aid process. I want to be able to guide them in the right direction and make sure they are well informed,” Urquiza says.
Due to her 5 years of experience and being bilingual in both Spanish and English, Urquiza is often the go-to Financial Aid Advisor for 200-250 students at any given time. “I like helping students and always encourage them to ask as many questions as they need until they fully understand.” She is most excited about continuing to assist a diverse group of students and help them reach their degree completion goals.
Urquiza quotes George Elliot who said, “’It's never too late to be what you might have been.’ Change is a good thing. At times, it can lead you down a different direction but the outcome can possibly be a better path. So, don't be afraid to take a risk because you never know where that can lead you.”
Students are welcomed to contact Wendy Urquiza. She can be reached by email, wurquiza@ccc.edu, or by phone, (773) 481-8142, at the Humboldt Park Campus. Students can find her Monday through Wednesdays from 8:30 AM to 4:30 PM at the Humboldt Park campus, as well as Thursdays from 10 AM to 6 PM, and Fridays from 9 AM to 5 PM at the main campus.
