Dawn of the Kiosks

Wright’s IT team, working alongside the Office of the President, saw an opportunity to design, create and implement a new way to provide both students and visitors answers to some of the most commonly asked questions. Their solution was the formation of the mobile kiosks currently residing within the Campus Center.

Anthony Gamboa, director of Information Technology (IT), gives an insight on the shiny new kiosks. “The purpose of the kiosks is to provide students and visitors to Wright College with useful information and answers to most-asked questions about the college, which includes helping students find resources on campus (wayfinding), bus schedules and registration. While faculty and staff are happy to continue to help and direct students, the kiosks are there to support them and provide a convenient source of information.”

The touchscreen kiosks are simple to use, and because of their visibility and mobility they can be transported around wherever there’s a need for information. Gamboa continues saying, “Kiosks also allow us to track student/visitor traffic and queries, conduct mini surveys and collect feedback – all of which can help us improve customer service and the student experience.”

Currently, Wright’s main campus and Humboldt Park campus are the only places with the informative kiosks. There are on-going discussions in regards to bettering service, guideline usage, and giving the kiosks a nickname.
