Anime Midwest

Anime fans! If you are looking for a close to home anime expo experience, you might want to check out Anime Midwest: an anime convention that attracts fans from all around the country.

Anime Midwest will be taking place at the Hyatt Regency O'Hare and Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont, Illinois, next to O'Hare airport from July 7 to July 9. It is full of different events that participants might enjoy.

There are gaming events, tournaments, and swordsmanship demos. In the exhibition hall you can find many different figures, manga, clothes, and artists selling their work. Just be aware that you might end up spending upwards of $200 on merchandise, so have your wallets ready. There are also meet-and-greets where you can meet your favorite anime voice actors and singers. You can expect to see hundreds of amazing cosplays where people dress up as their favorite anime, video game, and T.V. show characters.

If you get lucky you may run into Wright College’s very own anime club members. Many of our school's anime club members attend this event yearly. The club president, Ana Ceja, is one of the 20 members you might see. Some of the club members will be hand-crafting cosplays to wear to the convention, while others plan to photograph cosplays throughout the weekend.

You can get your tickets for $45 until March 30, but the longer you wait, the more tickets rise in price. It’s suggested that you buy your tickets sooner rather than later. You can also get a platinum registration for $125 which gives you many different benefits such as line jumping for multiple different events and an exclusive Anime Midwest T-Shirt. It’s definitely an experience any anime lover wouldn’t want to miss.
