Welcoming New C2C IT Dean Khallai Taylor

Wright College would like you all to welcome the new College to Careers (C2C) Dean of Information Technology (IT), Khallai Taylor.

C2C links both college and business together. The goal of the program is to assist students in creating a path that is right for the field they plan on taking once out of community college.

Taylor specializes in technology and business. Before coming to Wright College, she worked at Triton College as an Associate Professor of Computer Information where she taught Java, C++ and mobile app development.

She was also part of Lansing Community College in Michigan as an executive director of enrollment management and program innovation, as well as, the chair of engineering technology and business at Miami Dade College. Now she is excited to help students here at Wright reach high level IT careers.

There are three IT pathways that Wright College offers: software engineering and web development, computer science/databases and cloud management, and networking, technology and security. Having a dean that specializes for IT can help students find jobs in high field sectors. It sets students in the specific path they want to work at.

Taylor plans on exposing students to the IT world by providing students with internships and capsole projects. She wants to further educate these students aside the classes that they are required to take to get them a feel of how the job really is. She is working on finding a way to grant paid internships to students who strive well before graduating from community college.

As the new dean, she wants to make sure that the courses being taken at Wright are transferable to 4-year university and credible for IT careers. She wants to keep the IT program up to date so students take courses relevant to their pathway. She is also in charge of building relationships with businesses in order to provide opportunities to IT students. For more information about the IT programs don’t hesitate to stop by her office in A110.

With Taylor as the new dean of C2C, Wright students can relax knowing that their future is in good hands.
