There is much to look forward to during the Lady Rams basketball season: new players, new records, new highlights, and new competitors.

This season, the women will be lead by head coach Tom Horn and assistant coach Mark Thornton, where they will play 33 games with five of those being conference games against Kennedy-King, Daley, Olive-Harvey, and Malcolm X Colleges.

The women will start the season on Nov. 1, playing a conference game against Kennedy-King at Wright College. Horn said this season “I want to play a new brand of women's basketball.”

A big challenge for all coaches is keeping their athletes motivated throughout the season “We have selected very high quality team members. They will push each other and help each other to become great teammates,” replied Horn.

Regarding the team's record this season, Horn said, “We plan on winning as many games as possible. Records take care of themselves, but we need consistency from all our players.”

Last season, the Women’s Basketball Team played 26 games in total, with three conference games. Their final record was 23 losses and 3 wins with their major loss being against Kankakee, where Wright scored only 23 points to Kankakee’s 105 points.

According to Horn, regarding tough opponents, “The toughest competition was Oakton and Harper. We played well against them but we plan to put in a great amount of work that results in us defeating both opponents.”

Despite last season’s record, the team remains optimistic.“I have confidence in this team and I have a positive mindset going into this season,” said women’s basketball team member Damaris Schneider.

With new faces and new hopes, you can trust that the Lady Rams are going to give it their all this season.
